During this 4-day series of workshops, concerts, talks and discussions exploring the role music can play in building positive and inclusive community and individual identities, poet Gabriel Rosenstock and musician Eugene Skeef met for the first time. Their joint performance of spoken haiku and miniature musical responses proved to be one of the highlights of the festival.
Building on the momentum and creative potential of Singing the Bridge, and in particular the extraordinary haiku performance, the possibility of an larger scale musical-theatrical project was brainstormed and developed. This path leads to an ambitious project at the centre of which is "Sasquatch", based on Gabriel Rosenstock's book of poems of the same name.
"Sasquatch" receives it premiere performance in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin in Derry. As well as bringing together the extraordinary talents of poet Gabriel Rosenstock and musician-composer Eugene Skeef, the performance features dance, live improvised music, singing voice, spoken voice, and video projections.
Electric Circus was founded with the aim creating innovative, engaging and challenging music-based performances at the intersection of music, theatre and technology.
